Dear Participant

Thank you for your interest in doing the Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT).

FIT is a preliminary screening test for colorectal cancer that can detect the presence of small amounts of blood in the stool. Having blood in the stool may be a sign of colorectal cancer. FIT is recommended as a method for screening for colorectal cancer for individuals who do not have any colorectal symptoms and do not have first-degree relatives diagnosed with colorectal cancer below the age of 60 years old.

The test does not require any prior fasting or change in diet. Individuals should do the test when they are well, do not have diarrhoea, and do not already see blood in their stool. Should blood in the stool be visible, individuals are recommended to see a doctor directly.

Do note that a positive FIT result indicating blood in the stool DOES NOT confirm if one has colorectal cancer. Other conditions may also result in blood in the stool. A follow-up consultation with a colorectal specialist is recommended should at least one test result be positive.

Please fill in your particulars below to have a pair of FIT kits mailed to you within 14 working days.

Do contact Singapore Cancer Society at 6421 5868 during office hours if you require more information. Thank you.
